DESIGN CONCEPT
House Backlund is situated in Erinvale Estate, Somerset West. It was alterations and additions to an existing house and was completed in 2012.
There were no major changes to the outside of the house; however the entire interior was renovated. The original interior had a French Provencal feel. It was completely changed to a modern contemporary style. All the joinery, including the kitchen, was replaced as well as all the floor and wall finishes. A sophisticated cocktail bar was added in a previous unused space of the house. The open courtyard was enclosed with an aluminium and glass skylight, allowing maximum daylight into the house.
